Laying procedure

Prepare CollaElite in a clean recipient. First pour an equivalent of about three quarters of the water needed. Gradually introduce the powder, and stir with a helicoidal whisk from bottom to top at a low number of revolutions (≈ 400/min.).

Then add water until the desired consistency has been reached and that is uniform with no lumps. To get the best mix and to mix the greatest quantity of glue, it is advisable to use an electric mixer with vertical blades and at a slow rotation.

Lay a layer of glue onto the wall, then spread it using a toothed spatula, and also onto the back of the stone you are about to put on.

Lay the stones starting from the corners, alternating long stones with short ones and those of different sizes. Exert light pressure using vertical movements to let any excess glue come out.

Using the same method, apply the flat stones with the side on the vertical, thus creating the most natural interlocking possible, by trying to create spaces between stones of an equal thickness.

Prepare StuccoElite by mixing one 25 kg sack with about 4.5 liters of clean water in a cement mixer or in a bucket. To obtain the mix, pour water into the recipient and add the powder gradually. You can do the mix in a cement mixer, in a bucket (by hand or with a mechanical stirrer at low rotation) or with a pug mill. Mix until the mortar is uniform and has no lumps. Use all the mix, do not leave any left over for the next mix.

Fill the triangular bags with StuccoElite and apply it uniformly and in large amounts in the spaces between one stone and another. Make sure you do not mark the stones.

When you have finished, let the mortar dry a little and then make it neat using a glove, the end of a mason's trowel, a wooden stick, a dry sponge or whatever you feel is appropriate.
